writing regularly is hard

So I started this blog a year ago and life keeps happening. I never seem to find the time between toddler tantrums, attempting to keep the home in order and all the other things that life throws at you. So I am going to challenge myself to write something everyday, and post once a week for the next 3 months.

If anybody has any habit forming tips they would be greatly appreciated!

Saying Sorry

I really want William to grow up knowing the value of good communication. This is a skill that I think we all find difficult at times, especially when in a situation where we are uncomfortable or defensive. I came across a fantastic blog post by Joellen at cuppacocoa on saying sorry. This is a lesson I will take with me in my life and will work to pass onto Bean. Please take the time to read her post, such a simple idea that she articulates so well.

(Disclaimer – yes we both appear to have the same great taste in themes!)

Pancake day!

So today is pancake day or shrove tuesday. We will be introducing little bean to one of my traditions from home and be eating pancakes with the classic lemon and a (tiny) bit of sugar. Yum yum!

It is days like this that really show how I am living in a different country. It is only a small thing but it makes me feel homesick. I miss the collective tradition and the collective knowledge. Back home nearly everybody will be eating pancakes, or at least know about it. There will be pancake flipping races and it will be discussed as the human interest story on the news and especially in kids shows (I miss Blue Peter!)

I am sure the same things happen here, but it just doesnt feel the same. Well time to make some new traditions with my family then 🙂

Bean mainly wanted to eat the lemon slices, go figure.
